Recovering from weekends filled with exhausting parties and poor eating I try to keep my Mondays as healthy as possible, giving my digestive system a well deserved break from all the junk food and binge-eating on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Feeling tired and sluggish after weekends in my opinion has a lot to do with what you've been drinking and eating in the days before. So today I wanted to spotlight my everyday juice, a straight shot of spinach, pear, banana, hydrating coconut water, spirulina and maca powder, resulting in the most delicious detox juice.
Green juices are everywhere and in the name of health - not weight loss - I've been adding them to my daily diet for years now. Starting my day with a dose of nutrients, minerals and vitamins sure gives me a renewed and revitalized energy, ready to get my sh*t together. Juices are not only perfect to cleanse your system - shedding toxics from your system - they also boost your immune system in the quickest and easiest form possible, creating a liquid version of all your favorite healthy food. They help suppress your appetite for not so healthy treats and on top of that you start noticing the benefits of daily juices on your skin surprisingly fast.
There's only one thing I cannot emphasize enough whenever I get questioned about my juice habits; cold compression juicing. Please do invest in a slow juicer asap! You not only extract so much more juice out of your fruits and vegetables, the low speed equals low temperatures preserving tons more vitamins and enzymes and lots of more fibers. And slow juicing also allows you to prepare your juice the evening before as you can store your juice for 48hours without loss of vitamins, whereas using a high speed blender forces you to prepare your juice on the spot, even if that means getting out of bed ten minutes earlier ;-) My personal favorite is the DOMO slow juicer, easy to use (and clean!) and efficiently producing impressively much juice out of almost all fruits and vegetables. And even with a rather busy lifestyle the extra minutes have never bothered me for a second.
